Reports from the Kono District say that the Members of Parliament under the Coalition for Change (C4C) have proposed to summon an informal meeting in the Koidu City to take preliminary review of the speech by His Excellency, the President, Rtd. Brig. Julius Maada Bio, made during the state opening of the 23rd session of the 2nd Republic of Sierra Leone in the House of Parliament, Tower Hill in Freetown on Thursday 28th. June, 2020.
According to reports, the C4C parliamentary caucus led by Hon. Saa Emerson Lamina of Constituency 030, would briefly preview the President’s speech in preparation for debate in Parliament in the next couple of weeks. The preliminary review of the speech in the wake of the state opening, reports state, will enable them to adequately prepare for serious debate on pertinent issues that can enhance the bringing of sustainable development to their people in the Kono land and perhaps the rest of the country.
Political savants or pundits who claim to be knowledgeable enough about the political dynamics of the district have given an update to the Press, drawing comparative analysis of the present Kono MPs and those of the past; and noting that there is a great difference in terms of performance, service delivery and good representation. That unlike the past MPs, the present ones under the C4C are always very close to their constituents, giving them feedback and working out development initiatives for the taking of radical parliamentary approach. In the past, MPs were given Le 63, ooo, ooo by government to engage their constituents in the fight against Ebola but much impact could not be made as expected. It is but evidently clear that the MPs now under the C4C are making meaningful progress in their constituents and with their meagre salries earned on monthly basis: What an examplarary role models- if we
are to talk about quality representation, love and care for people.
Meanwhile, the MPs are assiduously- yet painstakingly mobilizing the Kono people, rekindling hopes that were shattered by dream killers in the District. Widely looking at a certain spin doctor Lemp-Lemp that is said to be bringing into disrepute the hard earned gain as opposed to the confidence and trust reposed by the people on the C4C.
On the conclusion, the golden C4C is reported to be gradually making a political headway in the regaining of momentum despite division caused by the defect of a few foundation members; and if these developments are anything to go by, then it comes out clear as daylight that the existence and perhaps longevity of the C4C Party-particularly in that part of the country squarely and decisively lie in the hand of the Parliamentary Caucus and the two Councils in question.
