Vice President of the Republic of Sierra Leone Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh Tuesday 2nd June 2020 at the Shangri La Hotel on Beach Road, Aberdeen, launched a National Elections Watch European Union funded 2022-2023 electoral cycle.
VP Jalloh described the project as timely and very important given it relation to the future prospect of our democracy. He thanked the European Union for their continued support to the growth and development of our democratic processes. The event, he said is linked to the future prospect of our young democracy.
For the NEW/EU project to impact positively, VP Jalloh stated that civil society must work with government leading to strong interface. He revealed that President Bio chose him to lead the process of civil society government dialogue so as to build a framework for continued civil society-government partnership.
This he said will bring a new chapter in the governance landscape that will enable civil society to engage government beyond elections in the country’s development dynamics. He stressed that government is determined to engage and work with civil society in enhancing citizens’ participation in elections and governance.
