NaCSA HOLDS ONE DAY INTERFACE RETREAT WITH THE OFFICE OF THE VICE PRESIDENT

With the objective to engage with key staff as well as to get insight into the programmes and operations of the National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA), the Office of the Vice President (NaCSA’s supervisory entity) has held a one-day Interface Retreat at the Golden Tulip Resort, Aberdeen, Freetown.

Welcoming the Hon. Vice President to the session, the Commissioner of NaCSA, Abu Bockarie Kokofele noted that the meeting could be the third direct engagement his Commission is having with Vice President since it got its new mandate
“We are extremely privileged to have the Hon. Vice President in our midst to discuss and share knowledge on the way forward of this Commission despite all his busy schedules. Today marks the third engagement with the V.P on specific focus to the NaCSA. First being, the Inter-agency Forum Meeting on Social Protection in Makeni late last year; the second was the International Conference on Social Protection early this year at Radisson Blu and today’s session,”
Commissioner Kokofele reinterated.
“We hope that, by the end of the day we will be able to benefit greatly from the knowledge and experience of the Hon. V.P. As a development expert, the Vice President is a team player and from our discussion, he is more than ready to the necessary support to NaCSA and by extension the people we serve.” he ended.

In his address, the Hon. Vice President of Sierra Leone- Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh revealed that he has been expecting this engagement for a while now and emphasized the essence of this meeting:
“The objective of this retreat is to engage the institution, so as to provide us with details insight into your programmes and operations. An engagement to know you, your programmes and the issues so that we could be of help to the Commission” the Vice President stated.

Dr. Juldeh Jalloh acknowledged the strategic position of NaCSA stating that:
“When you look at how far the Commission has come, you will realize that NaCSA is a very dynamic institution. Dynamic in the sense that, it is an institution that was designed to adapt to the various socio-economic development of the country”

The event saw presentations on various programmes and operations from Directors and Senior Directors while the interactive session provided space for deliberation through questions and answers from and among both parties – NaCSA and the Office of the Vice President.

In attendance were the Director of Public Private Partnership Unit, the Chief Executive Officer of the Millennium Challenge Coordination Unit, the Secretary to the Vice President and the Minister of State in the office of the Vice President, all of whom made valuable contributions.
