The leading mobile company Africell (SL) on Wednesday 17th June 2020 donated Le. 1,000,000,000 (One Billion Leones) to the EOC, NACOVERC and NACCED through the Ministry of Information and Communications to support the government of SierraLeone in the fight against COVID19.
Speaking on behalf of the company, Chief Executive Officer, Mr Shadi Gerjawi, extended his sympathy to all those affected by the COVID-19 outbreak and applauded the zeal and resilience with which Sierra Leoneans have adjusted to these trying times.
He reiterated their previous donations made to the Ministry, the company’s e-learning service to the University of Sierra Leone, and other various sensitization programmes on their Social Media platforms and AfriRadioSL (as well as other radio stations) which are geared towards aiding the general public.
It was in this direction that he said Afticell (SL) decided to donate One Billion Leones towards the fight against COVID-19 to assist the government’s efforts in breaking the chain of transmission.
