Oh poverty!!!, l am currently at Kama Hinchin village in Sella Limba Chiefdom but l just decided to share this practical story with you which is not just limited to the aforementioned village but prevalent in almost all villages in Sierra Leone.
On my way to Small Katirie early this morning, l saw five (5) kids in a farm driving birds, l shouted what? Oh Almighty Allah!!!, little, little, little kids working this morning, few without “shoe or cloth”…so small” and this is a raining season. The kids can’t talk Krio but only Limba and l asked the “okada man” to help me to interview them in Limba, “the kids said they come here every morning to work, hence tears ran my eyes and the “okada man” talked to me not to cry.
I swear to Almighty Allah, l cried and pondered about a lot of things.
Firstmost, with abject poverty, what’s the future of these children?
Do these children have rights to play? and rights to play is a Human Right of Children?
Do these children have access to quality Education?
Do these children have the required food for growth?
Do these children have better place to sleep?
Do these children have many clothes to wear without repeating “wet clothes”?
In addition, l quickly empathised with them by putting my beloved youngest daughter- Bernadette in their shoes.
Having said that, l humbly implore the Government, Local Councils, International Governmental Organisations (IGO) NGOs, Humanitarian Organisations, Philanthropists, Patriots and Political parties to better the lives of Sierra Leoneans especially the villages.
Sierra Leoneans especially women and children are extremely suffering in the rural areas, thus give birth frequently, no family planing, no good health, no social amenities etc. Let the development trajectory be shifted somehow to the provinces more especially the villages.
Please underscore that “Freetown is not Sierra Leone and Sierra Leone is not Freetown”.
His Excellency Sir, Dr. Rtd. Brig. Julius Maada Bio of the Republic of Sierra Leone, you have a lot to do Sir, and l wish you success Sir.
Still on this “National Campaign” thus, ” every place is your place and every home is your home in Sierra Leone”.
@Patriotism and nationalism fully reactivated.
