Though the country’s health sector was extremely weak in the wake of the outbreak of the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in May 2014, our country has made much progress in the sector with support from our development partners. One of them contributing immensely to strengthening the country’s health sector is the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) for which it deserves a pat on the back.

In furtherance of its support to the country’s health sector, the IDB has reliably provided the resources to construct additional healthcare facilities in all Government Hospitals across the country. The project will involve the construction of thirty-bedroom facilities in all Government Hospitals across the country as well as Isolation Units and Treatment Centres. The project, according to the indefatigable, result-oriented Minister of Health and Sanitation, will commence next month October.

With such development under the leadership of the New Direction Agenda, we are very much hopeful of seeing a well strengthened health sector in the country in the not-too-distant future, the Minister assured citizens. “This can be attributed to the President’s vision of caring for the wellbeing of Sierra Leoneans through the provision of better health facilities and accessibility to adequate medication at affordable cost” he said.

He expressed hope that other development partners in the health sector will emulate or even surpass the contribution IDB is making towards strengthening our country’s health sector.

In responding the minister one of the youths present  pointed out that he is doffing his hat to the shrewd, assiduous Minister of Health and Sanitation whose wealth of administrative experience and professionalism is propelling the President’s vision of strengthening the health sector  as he continued to pray that he continues to have the strength, courage and wisdom to actualize the President’s vision of taking the country’s health sector to an unprecedented height with the support of his hard working team in the Ministry of Health and Sanitation.
