In an effort to enhance the administration of the Passenger Manifest for Public Service Vehicles, the Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority (SLRSA) on Wednesday September 16, 2020 met with the leadership of the Passenger Welfare Association in the Authority’s Board Room, Kissy Road Freetown.
The Deputy Executive Director of the Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority Mr. James B. Bio, who chaired the meeting, disclosed that the purpose of the meeting was to discuss a proposal earlier submitted by the Passenger Welfare Association on the administration of the Passenger Manifest.
Mr. Bio emphasized the importance of the Passenger Manifest especially in the area of data collection and identification of Victims of Road Traffic Crashes.
The Deputy Executive Director enquired from the Passenger Welfare Association whether the organisation had the capacity to professionally administer the Passenger Manifest.
The Executive Director of the Passenger Welfare Association, Mr. Milton Bayoh thanked the SLRSA for inviting them to discuss such a very important matter of public interest. He promised to hold consultations and build partnerships with other stakeholders in the transport sector and assured that the organisation would get back to the Authority on completion of those activities.
The Director of safety and enforcement SLRSA Augustine kaitongi, SLRSA Corporate Secretary, Mr. Sama Gamanga also attended the meeting.
The Passenger manifest was provided for by Regulation 52 of the Road Traffic Regulation of 2011 for *“A Public Service Vehicle shall, before commencing any intercity journey, keep and maintain a manifest indicating the names of its passengers, their addresses and their point of departure and destination’’.*
