Vice President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh on Tuesday made a surprise visit at the Canadian College, Mile 91, Tonkolili District and held a conducted tour in most of its facilities including Student’s Hostel, Staff Quarters, Radio and TV Stations, University Complex Hall, Lecture Rooms and the College Clinic etc.
The Canadian College is privately owned by Muckson Sesay. The college is the first modern higher technical and educational college in the Tonkolili District contributing towards Human Capital Development, a flagship programme of President Julius Maada Bio’s New Direction government.
During the tour, VP Juldeh Jalloh became impressed with the competitive and conducive learning environment of the college which could serve as a model and basis for improved access of quality higher education in the country.
According to Mr Sesay, the Canadian College is one of the beneficiaries of the sixty (60) higher and technical institutions both public and private to be supported by government.
In respect of government determination to support private investment in Higher and Tertiary Education, VP Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh encouraged the leadership of the college to take advantage of the Education Development Fund which would be launched by President Bio to support higher and technical education infrastructures in the country.
In conclusion, the VP lauded the contribution of the Proprietor of the college as a critical milestone towards the development of Sierra Leone.
