The DHMT of Bombali is currently investigating a suspected case of COVID 19 who passed away today in the afternoon hours in our facility (the Magbenteh Community Hospital). The case in question is a female Sierra Leonean who has been residing in England. A few weeks ago (approximately three weeks), she traveled to Sierra Leone as alleged.
According to alleged information, this patient was not doing well for the past three days with high fever though the relatives denied it. Another alleged information is, that the relatives of the suspected case have been quarantined in England and upon hearing this, her (the deceased) blood pressure got elevated. The DHMT of Bombali was immediately informed. They immediately came to our facility, do the line listing and collected the swab sample with the help of our laboratory scientist. The collected specimen has been sent to Freetown for analysis. In order to prevent the general public, certain proactive measures have been put in place until the said result is out. These are the measures put in place, for now, all the staff who came in contact with the patient has to stay off duty and avoid public gathering until the result is out. Strict IPC measures to be followed pre and post-procedure of every patient. Proper triage of every patient, who comes to seek medical attention in our facility.
Hand washing at the gate before entering the hospital and before leaving the hospital.
I’m strongly encouraging us all to remain focus without any panic until the result is out.
You all rest assured that you will be updated on any new developments.
