The Parliament of Sierra Leone welcomed a delegation of students from Gabriel L. Denis Foreign Service Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Liberia, on Saturday. The visit aimed to enhance information sharing and strengthen diplomatic ties between the two nations.
During the study tour, the students were provided with a first-hand experience of parliamentary procedures and governance, marking a significant step in fostering cross-border understanding and laying the groundwork for future diplomatic cooperation.
Deputy Clerk of Parliament, Gilbert Bosco N’habay, extended a warm welcome to the students and offered an update on the operations and activities of the Parliament. He provided detailed insights into the functions, composition, and legislative agenda of the sixth Parliament.
The tour included an observational session in the Parliamentary Chamber, where lawmakers convened to discuss the day’s business. Additionally, the students visited the gravesite of Sierra Leone’s first and second Prime Ministers and toured the entire precinct of Parliament.
The head of the Liberian delegation expressed heartfelt gratitude for the warm reception, highlighting that the experience was an invaluable part of their practical training.
Officials regarded the visit as a positive development for the integration of the Mano River Union, emphasizing that such engagements among future leaders are crucial for strengthening the enduring friendship and collaboration between Sierra Leone and Liberia.
