A new chapter in community-driven education has opened in the eastern city of Kenema with the rise of FBC Investment, a local initiative named in honour of the late Frank Bockarie Coker, a respected teacher whose passion for learning touched the lives of many.

Determined to continue Coker’s legacy, FBC Investment has rolled out a bold mission: to bring computer education to the doorstep of everyone in Kenema, ensuring that no young person is left behind in the digital age.

The Manager, Ibrahim Tarawally, speaking at his 22 Humonya Street Avenue, described the effort as a way of “complementing the government’s strides in the education sector.” He emphasized that in today’s world, technology is not a luxury but a necessity, especially for students and jobseekers who compete in a rapidly advancing global market.

“We are appealing for government and community support,” Tarawally said, “because education is a shared responsibility. By working together, we can empower our young people with the skills that open doors to opportunities and drive development in Kenema and beyond.”

The programme offers affordable computer literacy courses, basic to advanced ICT training, and community outreach to schools and institutions. Already, scores of young people have signed up to acquire skills in typing, internet use, software applications, and digital communication.

Community leaders in Kenema have welcomed the initiative, calling it timely and vital in a district where access to computer training remains limited. Many noted that honouring the memory of Frank Bockarie Coker through this project not only keeps his spirit of teaching alive but also lights the path for a new generation of learners.

As Tarawally and his team push forward, the call is clear: for stakeholders, government, and the wider community to join hands in ensuring that the vision of computer education for all becomes a lasting reality in Kenema.
