Africell Launches ‘Wel Body’ Initiative, Reinforcing Commitment to Workforce Health and National Growth
Africell, recognized as a leader in corporate social responsibility (CSR) in Sierra Leone, has officially launched its ‘Wel Body’ Initiative, aimed at fostering a culture of health and wellness among its employees. This initiative underscores Africell’s position as the largest telecommunications network in the country, committed not only to inclusion but also to the overall growth and development of the nation.
The launch took place during Africell Health Awareness Day 2025, which offered free medical screenings for HIV, Hepatitis,blood pressure, and blood sugar to all staff members. This proactive approach to employee health reflects Africell’s dedication to enhancing the well-being of its workforce, a testament to its overarching commitment to CSR and community welfare.

Dr. Samba Jalloh, Vice President of the Sierra Leone Medical and Dental Association, praised Africell for its lifelong investment in the health and welfare of its employees. “This initiative is a remarkable step towards building a healthier and more productive workforce,” he stated, highlighting the significance of regular health check-ups in preventing chronic diseases and promoting long-term wellness.
Dr. Fatmata Taqi, Africell’s Talent Development Director, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing that the health awareness program is a reflection of the management’s commitment to employee well-being. “At Africell, we believe that a healthy team is a productive team,” Dr. Taqi articulated. “The ‘Wel Body’ initiative is part of our ongoing effort to ensure that our staff have access to essential health services and information.”
