Luawa Football Club has officially launched its Internal Coaching Development Programme, a landmark initiative aimed at strengthening grassroots football across Sierra Leone and empowering the next generation of local coaches and players.
The programme, which kicked off yesterday at the Luawa FC Academy features 24 intensive training modules and is being implemented across seven hubs nationwide Kailahun, Makeni, Kenema, Bo in Freetwon and plus Waterloo.
Each hub will serve as a training and mentorship centre, where young coaches will undergo advanced sessions in technical, tactical, and player development methodologies.
According to Luawa FC’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Dr. Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai, the initiative represents a bold investment in the future of Sierra Leonean football.
“This is more than just coaching it’s a movement.
Each year, we level up our coaching crew to spot the next stars, train them hard, and push them to the top. Football talent in Sierra Leone is everywhere; what we’re doing is building the right structure and discipline to make that talent shine,” Dr. Abdulai said.
This year’s course also features a comparative coaching study involving professional coaches from Germany and Denmark, providing local participants with international exposure and opportunities to exchange ideas on modern football systems and player management.
“The inclusion of our German and Danish partners brings new perspectives to our game. It’s about learning from the best, adapting to our context, and showing that Sierra Leone can produce world-class coaches and players. No borders, no boundaries just the pitch, the grind, and belief in our potential,” Dr. Abdulai added.
The initiative forms part of Luawa FC’s broader vision to develop football from the grassroots level, ensuring that young players across the country have access to quality coaching and the opportunity to thrive.
“We are giving young players a platform to develop, to dream, and to unleash their potential. Football is not just a game for us, it’s a unifying force. One country, one people, one game,” Dr. Abdulai emphasized.
Many Sierra Leoneans have hailed the programme as a timely and strategic effort to professionalize local coaching standards while inspiring a new generation of football leaders capable of taking Sierra Leonean football to greater heights.
In conclusion, Dr. Abdulai reaffirmed his commitment to excellence, stating that Luawa FC is determined to become the leading football club in Sierra Leone.
