Banjul, The Gambia – Mayor Rohey Malick Lowe has expressed her heartfelt gratitude upon completing the African Mayoral Leadership Initiative (AMALI) reunion in Johannesburg, South Africa. In a statement, Mayor Lowe described the year-long program as a transformative journey that has strengthened her leadership skills and enhanced her ability to drive community development.
“AMALI is a powerful force for progress across Africa, supporting mayors and their teams by building capacity and providing frameworks to measure and monitor key projects,” she said. The initiative, launched in 2023, has brought together 44 mayors and governors from 17 African countries, including Mayor Lowe and Kanifing Municipal Council Mayor Talib Ahmed Bensouda.
Mayor Lowe praised her mentor, Dr. Awa Marie Coll-Seck, former Senegalese Minister of Health, for her dedication to public service and guidance. She said the experience has renewed her focus and energy to serve with dedication and vision, reaffirming her commitment to inclusive leadership and continental collaboration.
