UniMak, Makeni, November 21, 2025 – The leading flagbearer aspirant candidate for the All Peoples Congress (APC) party, Sheikh Alhaji Mohamed “Omudu” Kamara, popularly known as Jagaban, attended the 50 Most Influential UniMak Alumni Awards at the Giorgio Pavarani Auditorium on November 21, 2025. His presence added great significance to the event, where he received a warm welcome from students, staff, and university leaders.
The UniMak Students’ Union President, Mr. Abdulai Barrie, thanked Jagaban for his continuous support, noting that he currently sponsors 75 students at the university. He also announced the launch of the Jagaban Scholarship Scheme to further enhance opportunities for students. Mr. Barrie explained the students’ plan to construct a sports complex that will benefit both the university and the surrounding community, generating sustainable income to maintain student sponsorship programs.
During the event, Jagaban was invited to present award certificates to various winners. In his keynote speech, he expressed heartfelt gratitude, stating, “I want to thank the board members, lecturers, organizers, and everyone here for welcoming me. You all make me feel at home.” He delivered a business lecture on the theme “Ultimate Equal Opportunities, Time,” emphasizing that successful entrepreneurs prioritize time management as a core principle. He encouraged students to master time to achieve their short-, medium-, and long-term goals.
Jagaban was honored with an award recognizing his developmental contributions across Sierra Leone. In appreciation, he generously announced an investment of NLe 305,000 toward the construction of the UniMak Sports Complex, a gesture that will leave a meaningful and lasting impact on the university community.
