The Sierra Leone Ports and Harbours Authority (SLPHA) showcased key investment prospects at the Sierra Leone Trade & Cultural Forum 2025, held in Dongguan City under the theme “Bridging Countries & Building Future – Sierra Leone Investment Opportunities.” The event was organized by the Embassy of Sierra Leone in the People’s Republic of China.

Ambassador Dr. Abu Bakarr Karim underscored Sierra Leone’s eagerness to attract Chinese investment, urging Chinese businesses to expand their operations into Sierra Leone to further strengthen the robust bilateral relationship between the two nations for mutual benefit.

Representing SLPHA, the Deputy Director General – Madam Judith B. Kosseh expressed the Authority’s enthusiasm for the forum, noting its array of “bankable investment opportunities” ripe for Chinese investors. She conveyed the regards of Director General – Mr. Yankuba Askia Bio, who, though unable to attend due to official commitments, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to partnering with Chinese entities to transform Sierra Leone into a competitive maritime hub in West Africa.

During an interactive panel discussion, SLPHA’s Director of Research, Planning and Development, Abubakarr Sidique Kamara Esq., highlighted Sierra Leone’s strategic location and the pivotal role of the Freetown Port. He emphasized vast opportunities across logistics, industrial development, technology, and the blue economy, where investors can generate significant economic value while advancing Sierra Leone’s position as a maritime gateway not only in West Africa but globally.

The forum marked a significant step in deepening Sino-Sierra Leonean economic cooperation, with SLPHA positioning itself as a key enabler of trade, investment, and sustainable maritime growth.
