Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh on Friday commissioned the ultra-modern Ross Road Police Station, the Freetown East Regional Headquarters, describing it as proof of government’s commitment to people-centred policing and officer welfare. “Modern policing is not just about enforcement; it is about care, discipline, and partnership with the community,” he said, adding that the facility reflects government’s “hard support in infrastructure, mobility, and communication, alongside soft support through reforms, training, and human-centred policing.”

He noted that since 2018, sustained investments in stations, logistics, salaries, and recruitment had improved professionalism and service delivery, stressing that “a conducive working environment encourages discipline and a 24-hour service culture that keeps citizens safe.”

Inspector General of Police William Fayia Sellu described the commissioning as “a deeply emotional and historic moment” for the force, noting that the project had stalled for years before being revived through government intervention. “This station is more than a building; it represents a shift in mindset and service,” he said, thanking the Vice President, partners, and the community for their support.

Assistant Inspector General, Brima Kanneh assured residents that officers would “protect and maintain this facility to the highest standards,” while Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs David Fortune said the station was “a strategic investment in professionalism and integrity.”

Police Partnership Board Secretary General Melvin Greene added that the project showed “what strong community and police collaboration can achieve,” reaffirming commitment to trust, cooperation, and public safety.
