Alusine Jalloh has been accused of stealing one Prada vehicle valued three hundred million Leones (le 300,000,000). The accused is presently before Magistrate Sahr Keikura of court No4.Pademba Road court answering to a criminal preliminary investigation of Larceny by tricks contrary to section 17 (1) (a) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
Duiyifu a Chinese National testified as principal witness one (PW1), However, John Hinga Magay a police inspector attached at Russ Road police station gave interpretation between the witness who could not speak or hear English and the prosecution.
The Witness Duiyifu, a Residence of 555 Waterloo in his evidence said he works as a carpenter and he is attached to the Chinese company called Global. He said he knew the accused person and he recalled on the 20th June 2018, himself together with the Accused person went with his Boss for a meeting at Wilkinson Road, stating that they were waiting for the Boss in the vehicle when he left the accused to go and buy food and on getting back at the spot he could not see the accused and the vehicle
He said, they search for him and called his phone but to no avail, so they decided to report the matter at the Lumley police station and their statements were obtained.
The witness said the accused was later found and arrested by a formal worker of the company and was brought to Lumley police station but till date, the accused did not produce the vehicle until he was charged to court.
The statement of offence according to the particulars on the police charge sheet stated that the accused person on 20th June 2018 at 59 Spur Road Freetown being a servant to Zhuang Hin Haig a Chinese National stole one Prada vehicle valued three hundred million Leones (le 300,000,000) property of Ahmed Mackie whilst in the custody of Zhuang Hin Haig.
Magistrate Sahr Keikura, however, has refused the accused person bail and has remanded him at the male correctional centre at Pademba Road.
Assistance superevident of police Aminatu Darbor is prosecuting the matter, the accused person was not legally represented by any counsel and the case has been adjourned to the 6th April 2020.
