Aberdeen Aku Ebileh Foundation (TAAEF) Holds ‘Omokay’ Sarah

The Aberdeen Aku Ebileh Foundation (TAAEF) on Sunday, 30th November 2025, held the ‘Omokay’ Sarah at Kaabatullah Masjid, Aberdeen, in Freetown.

The Islamic event, which attracted over one hundred participants, was aimed at promoting Islamic knowledge and strengthening the teachings of Islam.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Chairman of t⁷he Aberdeen Aku Ebileh Foundation (TAAEF), Alhaji Mohamed Salieu Elias Thomas, after welcoming the guests, expressed heartfelt gratitude to members of TAAEF for organizing such an important event in the community. He further emphasized the significance of imparting Islamic knowledge to the younger generation.

Earlier, Alhaji Alusine Williams, who deputised the Chief Imam of Kaabatullah Masjid Jamaat in Aberdeen, explained to the audience the importance of the Omakay Sarah and its benefits of learning. He urged the children to take Islamic learning seriously as they are the future of the Jamaat and the country.

The guest speaker, Alhaji Mohamed Salaam Savage, gave a detailed explanation of the Aku culture and the importance of such an occasion. He showered praises on members of TAAEF for reactivating the Aku culture in the community. “Aberdeen has been lagging behind in Aku culture, but since TAAEF organisation was formed, there has been much awakening of cultural consciousness that has resulted in organising major Aku cultural activities  in the community, he averred.

Vice Chairman and Secretary General of Kaabatullah Masjid Jamaat Aberdeen, Alpha Ibrahim Babatunde Sesay, who delivered the vote of thanks, expressed gratitude and appreciation to the audience for supporting members of TAAEF

He added that the TAAEF organisation aims to develop Islam in the community and that learning is their basic priority. He added that the occasion marks a significant milestone in the community as the Nine male candidate graduates. The Vice Chairman and Secretary General informed the audience that the Executive members of TAAEF have acknowledged the immense contributions of six teachers towards the graduates and pupils in the community. 

The six teachers certified are as follows:

Alhaji Muhaiminu Rashid Davies

Sheikh Olinne Jalloh

Alhaji OSMAN Fofanah

Dr. Kalokoh

Alhaji Abdulai Kamara

Ya Imam, Alhaji Ibrahim Sanuai Macualey, who addressed the final graduants, advised the graduants that they should take their learning seriously because it is now that the journey to learning has begun. He entreated that to find ample time for themselves to read the Qur’an every day so that they will become fluent in using the words orally.

The nine graduants who have fully completed the learning of the Qur’an are as follows:

The event was climaxed with lots of sonorous and musical Aku songs. Alhaji Oshoba Nurudeen Aberdeen and Ashiru Taju Deen co-chaired the conspicuous occasion.
