Freetown, Sierra Leone – December 9, 2025
Africell Sierra Leone recently welcomed home Sierra Leonean talent and international music producer Omar Elkan Agyei at the company’s headquarters in Wilberforce. The event marked a significant moment for the young producer, whose rise in the global music scene has been followed with pride by many Sierra Leoneans.
Elkan, widely celebrated for his creativity, discipline, and unique fusion of African sounds, has built an impressive reputation in the international music industry. Born to Sierra Leonean parents, he spent much of his early life experimenting with drums and digital beats, eventually developing a style that blends contemporary rhythms with traditional influences. His ability to transform simple sounds into powerful musical experiences has earned him admiration from audiences and industry players worldwide.
Africell Media Manager Abdul Karim Sesay said the company was honored to host Elkan, noting that Africell remains committed to identifying and developing young talent by creating spaces where creativity can thrive. “Elkan’s early association with Africell allowed the company to witness his talent firsthand, adding that his return home would further strengthen collaboration,” he said.
Africell CEO Shadi Al Gerjawi welcomed Elkan and recalled the personal connection his family shared with the young producer. He narrated how Elkan had gifted his children their first drum set years earlier, a gesture that sparked their interest in music. “He noted that while the early attempts sounded like noise, they eventually became the foundation of a genuine musical journey,” Al Gerjawi said.

The CEO emphasized that inspiration often comes from recognizing potential in others and giving them the confidence to explore it. “Africell is proud of Elkan’s progress, and he follows the producer’s work on social media,” he said, adding that Elkan’s success would inspire countless people who may never meet him but would believe in themselves simply by seeing him succeed.
Elkan’s mother, Africell Customer Relations Director and Lead of the Africell Impact Foundation, Kippy Debs, spoke both as a parent and a professional. She noted that Elkan’s journey had been driven by commitment and discipline, recalling the many nights he spent in the studio refining just a single sound. “I am proud that Sierra Leone contributed to raising a young man who has become a role model to many,” she said.
Debs said the Africell Impact Foundation is dedicated to supporting talent in media and the creative arts, emphasizing that people are shaped not by their surroundings but by the investments made in them and by their personal effort. “Elkan’s progress proves that growth in the creative sector is possible in Sierra Leone,” she added.

In his remarks, Elkan said he was delighted to return home, noting that Sierra Leone’s energy, rhythm, and soundscape had always inspired his music. “I describe the city as a place where even chaos becomes melody,” he said, stressing the importance of community and human connection.
Elkan announced that his new EP titled “Baby Bundle” would be released on Friday, December 12, 2025. He said the project captures the roots of his journey as a producer and artist over the past seven years, highlighting a standout track titled “Turn the Continent Up,” which he said would make a strong impact.
Africell CEO Al Gerjawi later stated that Elkan will perform his latest songs at the grand finale of Housemates Salone Season 4 on December 21, 2025. This event demonstrates Africell’s commitment to promoting creativity, supporting young talent, and investing in Sierra Leone’s cultural future.
