Mr Andrew Bob Johnny, who joined Statistics Sierra Leone as an ordinary cartographer in 1994, has been appointed by His Excellency Julius Maada Bio as the Statistician – General of Statistics Sierra Leone.
Mr Johnny had been serving as the Deputy Statistician General to Prof. Osman Sankoh (Mallam O),COR, since 2019.
Before being appointed as Deputy Statistician General, Mr Johnny had served as Director of Censuses & GIS for 15 years, dating back to 2004.
Mr Johnny who holds a Master of Science degree in Geo-Information Management , from the prestigious institute of Geo-information science and earth observation (ITC) in the Netherlands, officially takes over on 1st April 2023 from Prof. Osman Sankoh, whose tenure ends on 31 st March 2023.
Mr Johnny who is now in his 29th year at Stats SL and is seen as a beacon of institutional memory is poised to build on the tremendous gains made over the years by Prof. Osman Sankoh.
