The first batch of 1,000 Jagaban bikes has arrived in Sierra Leone and is now safely stored in a warehouse, Mr Saidu Gibril Buzzom Kamara, National Spokesman for Sheikh Alhaji Chief Mohamed “Omodu” Kamara, popularly known as Jagaban, confirmed last week.

This delivery comes after the earlier arrival of 3,000 solar lights and represents another step in Jagaban’s ongoing commitment to improving the lives of Sierra Leoneans. The bikes will remain in storage temporarily while construction continues at the Mile Six assembly plant. Jagaban had previously promised a total of 5,000 bikes. So far, 1,000 have arrived, with the remaining 4,000 on their way.

Speaking to SLiK Radio, Mr Kamara said the arrival of the bikes was no surprise, noting that Jagaban is known for keeping his promises. He asked the public to be patient and assured them that sales would begin in the coming months.

He explained that the bikes would be sold on a cost-recovery basis and through a work and pay scheme, with sales points set up across the country. Citizens will have the opportunity to make enquiries and agree on flexible payment plans.

On questions of fairness and youth inclusion, Mr Kamara highlighted that Jagaban’s projects are focused on creating employment opportunities. The Mile Six assembly plant is expected to employ between 300 and 500 people, with Chinese experts providing training in bike assembly for young Sierra Leoneans.

Jagaban continues to demonstrate a strong commitment to economic empowerment, job creation, and improving livelihoods, benefiting citizens across all districts of Sierra Leone.
