Africell Sierra Leone has once again reaffirmed its commitment to giving back to the people of Sierra Leone as it celebrated winners of its long-running Win Kopo promotion, a campaign the company says continues to grow from strength to strength.
Speaking at the prize presentation ceremony, Africell Marketing Manager, Kamanda Koroma, thanked customers and partners for their continued trust and support. He said Africell’s philosophy has always been rooted in making people happy and giving back to communities across the country.
“Whenever Africell does something like this, it is about putting smiles on the faces of Sierra Leoneans,” Koroma said. “Giving back is part of who we are.”
He noted that the Win Kopo promotion has been running for four years and is set to take a more dynamic turn in 2026. According to him, the diversity of the winners drawn from different sub-regions of the country reflects Africell’s national reach, inclusiveness, and transparency.
Koroma also revealed that over the course of the promotion, 482 people won daily prizes amounting to Le150 million. On a weekly basis, 25 winners each received Le2,500, while seven people emerged as monthly winners, each taking home Le25,000. The grand prize saw two lucky winners walk away with Le250,000 each. Two of the monthly winners were present at the ceremony to receive their prizes.
He further disclosed that following the successful conclusion of the Jombo Jubilee promotion and Housemate Salone last year, Africell has lined up more promotional activities in 2026, including special campaigns for Valentine’s Day and the holy month of Ramadan. He described Sierra Leone as a culturally diverse country and said Africell remains committed to designing promotions that resonate with all segments of society.
Some of the winners shared emotional testimonies at the event. John Thoronka from Maburoka expressed excitement after receiving his prize, admitting that he initially doubted the call informing him of his win. He said when he shared the news with people around him, some laughed and advised him not to spread the information until he was sure it was real.
Another winner, Alhaji Ibrahim Bun Sesay, recounted how even his own family doubted him when he told them he had been called by Africell. He said his wife and children mocked him, with one of his children joking in Krio that it would only be true “when pigs give birth,” meaning it would never happen. Standing before them at the ceremony to receive his prize, Sesay said the moment was both joyful and vindicating.
He encouraged Sierra Leoneans to trust Africell and take part in its promotions, describing the company as transparent and reliable.
The Win Kopo prize presentation ended on a celebratory note, with Africell assuring customers that there are still more opportunities and rewards to come.
