The distinguished People’s Commissioner of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Francis Ben Kaifala Esq., has been conferred with the Emblem of Collaborative Excellence by the Sierra Leone Bar Association (SLBA), in recognition of exemplary partnership, integrity, and outstanding service to justice.

The honour underscores the indispensable role of the legal profession in Sierra Leone’s anti-corruption architecture. The Bar has remained a pillar of support to the Commission’s work, particularly given the ACC’s heavy reliance on litigation, from complex corruption prosecutions and asset recovery, to the enforcement of accountability through the courts. This sustained collaboration among prosecutors, defence attorneys, and the judiciary continues to strengthen due process, ensure fairness, and uphold the rule of law.

The recognition also carries deep professional significance. Commissioner Kaifala is himself a senior member of the Bar, having been called to the BAR nearly two decades ago. His dual identity, as a seasoned legal practitioner and Sierra Leone’s anti-corruption czar, symbolizes the enduring bond between the ACC and the legal fraternity.

The Commissioner was further accorded the honour of proposing a toast to His Excellency the President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Brig Rtd Dr. Julius Maada Bio.  In his remarks, he paid glowing tribute to the President’s distinguished and exemplary leadership, highlighting the strong political will and unwavering support for the fight against corruption, efforts credited with moving Sierra Leone from miserable standings on local and international indices and ratings, to significant and sustained improvements.
