The Chairman of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), Jimmy Batilo Songa, on Friday 13th March 2026 joined Muslim worshippers at the party’s national headquarters in Freetown to observe the last Juma (Friday) prayer during the holy month of Ramadan.
The prayer session brought together senior members and supporters of the SLPP, as well as Muslim faithful who gathered in large numbers to offer prayers and seek blessings during the sacred period. The observance of the last Friday prayer of Ramadan is considered a significant moment for Muslims, as it marks the final days of fasting, reflection, and spiritual devotion.
Speaking shortly after the prayer, Chairman Batilo Songa expressed gratitude to Allah for granting Muslims the strength and patience to observe the holy month. He emphasized the importance of Ramadan as a time for unity, compassion, and service to humanity.
He further encouraged Sierra Leoneans to continue promoting peace, tolerance, and national cohesion regardless of religious or political differences. According to him, the values of Ramadan sacrifice, generosity, and forgiveness are essential for building a stronger and more united nation.
Other senior members of the SLPP who attended the prayer also used the occasion to extend warm greetings to Muslims across the country as they approach the end of the holy month.
The gathering at the party headquarters reflected the SLPP’s commitment to religious tolerance and inclusiveness, as leaders and supporters joined Muslim faithful in prayer and reflection during one of the most important periods in the Islamic calendar.
As the holy month of Ramadan draws to a close, Muslims across Sierra Leone continue to observe the final days with increased devotion, charity, and prayers ahead of the celebration of Eid al‑Fitr.
