A high-level meeting between Sierra Leone’s Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs and Guinean Ambassador to Sierra Leone, H.E. Julien Yombouno, underscored the power of culture as a tool for building trust and deepening cross-border relations. Held at the Guinean Embassy in Freetown, discussions around the Budapest–Bamako–Freetown Rally 2026 highlighted how African stories, creativity, and shared heritage can foster meaningful connections beyond formal diplomacy.
The delegation was led by Deputy Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Kadijatu Grace Ahene Kamara, accompanied by Permanent Secretary, Judith Jones, Director of Tourism, Travel and Exchange Program, Mohamed Jalloh, and senior ministry staff. Talks focused on preparations for the Budapest–Bamako–Freetown Challenge scheduled for this weekend, during which the first batch of over 400 rally participants will enter Sierra Leone through the Sierra Leone–Guinea border at Gbalamuya, Kambia.
Both sides emphasized the need for seamless coordination between authorities at the border to ensure a smooth and welcoming entry for participants. Ambassador Yombouno assured Guinea’s full cooperation toward the success of the rally and confirmed his presence at the border to support the process, while discussions also explored opportunities for cultural exchanges and broader areas of mutual collaboration.
