The deputy minister of energy, Dr Eldred Taylor has today continued the ministry’s impressive strides of providing brand new transformers to different communities in the Western Area with the primary aim of increasing access to electricity and boosting quality.
Commissioning the brand new 630kva transformer, Mr Taylor conveyed the greetings of the President and the minister of energy to the people of Thunder Hill. He told the people that their welfare was always treated with the utmost urgency and care by the government, citing the fact that officials of the ministry were worried when they learnt that the community was experiencing erratic electricity supply, and most disturbingly, occasional total power outages.
Dr Taylor told residents that in 2019 a new transformer was presented to the community, but went on to say that the transformer crumbled under the weight of the burdens of heavy appliances and the poor network. While officially commissioning the transformer, Dr Taylor assured that the new transformer would go a long way towards increasing access to electricity and in guaranteeing quality. He maintained that the new transformer is stronger, durable and has a protective panel to make it weather heavy storms.
The deputy minister called on residents to own the transformer by protecting it and by refraining from engaging in activities like illegal connections and theft of vital electrical gadgets. He also called on them to continue paying their bills in order to help EDSA perform admirably.
Various community stakeholders praised the ministry for the timely intervention and their ever-ready posture in solving their electricity problems. They promised to protect the transformer and to report cases of illegal connections and other bad acts.
From Yams Farm and Bathurst in rural Freetown to Fourah Bay and Thunder Hill in Eastern Freetown, the ministry of energy could be seen impressing in its service and delivery focused energy reformation drive with a view to transforming lives.
