The Head of Media of Sierra Leone Police, Superintendent Brima Kamara, has confirmed to Covenant Newspaper that four police officers who were allegedly involved in the shooting at Hastings, leading to the death of one person, were arrested and are now helping the police with investigation.
Superintendent Kamara said according to their preliminary investigations on the said matter, the incident emanated from the deceased Alpha Kargbo and another resident of the village.
In a press release issued on Friday 16th April 2021, police said on suspicion that the deceased Alpha Kargbo was fatally injured; some residents went on the rampage by setting roadblocks, burning down homes, throwing missiles and damaging property with the village.
The release continued that the policed responded to what it called “seeming public disorder situation” and arrested thirteen suspects.
It further confirmed that the four police officers in question have been suspended from duty and placed on administrative and criminal investigations; concluding that the public will be regularly updated on the progress and findings.
