A new charitable organization, Harmony Charity Organization, has launched an initiative to support the needy, disabled, and less privileged across Sierra Leone. The organization, which was launched in November, aims to bridge social gaps and provide direct assistance to individuals and families struggling with hardship.

Speaking during a community outreach event, Chief Executive Officer Madam Famata Lamrana Williams reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to uplifting vulnerable groups, particularly children who often face significant challenges. She explained that Harmony Charity Organization was born out of a desire to provide support to those who have been forgotten by society.

According to Madam Williams, the organization’s primary focus is on children, persons living with disabilities, widows, and families battling extreme poverty. She emphasized that many children in underserved communities continue to suffer silently due to a lack of basic necessities such as food, clothing, educational materials, and healthcare.

Since its launch, Harmony Charity Organization has rolled out several humanitarian activities, including donation drives, community feeding programs, school-support initiatives, and targeted assistance to disabled groups. Volunteers from the organization have been engaging with local leaders, identifying households in dire need of help, and working closely with caregivers and children to ensure the support reaches the right people.

Community members expressed gratitude for the interventions, describing Harmony Charity Organization as a timely and much-needed initiative. Parents of children with disabilities particularly applauded the organization’s inclusive approach, noting that many support services often overlook their needs.

Madam Williams encouraged government agencies, private institutions, and individuals to join hands with Harmony Charity Organization in building a more caring society. She stressed that meaningful development can only occur when compassion becomes a collective responsibility.

“We launched this organization to bring dignity and hope to people who have been forgotten by society,” Madam Williams said. “Every child deserves a chance to thrive, every disabled person deserves respect, and every less privileged family deserves support. Harmony Charity Organization is here to ensure that no one is left behind.”

The organization is calling on partners and well-wishers to support its mission, with the goal of transforming lives and restoring hope to thousands of vulnerable people across the country. Madam Williams extended thanks to her husband, Mr. Thomas Ade Williams, for his total support to the organization, and appealed to the people of Kenema to support the organization’s growth.
