Kenema City Council Hands Over Site for Construction of Mini City Hall

The Kenema City Council has officially handed over a project site to Larubasa Investment for the construction of a Mini City Hall along reservation road in Kenema City, marking another significant step in the Council’s drive to improve public service delivery and civic infrastructure.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, the Chief Administrator of the Kenema City Council, Mr. Sahr Emmanuel Yambasu, described the project as a people-centered initiative aimed at bringing governance and public services closer to the ordinary citizen. He disclosed that the ultimate objective of the Council is effective service delivery, stressing that the new facility will not only serve administrative purposes but will also benefit the wider public.

According to Mr. Yambasu, the Mini City Hall will include conference hall with wash facility that will be made available for social events, community activities, and other public gatherings. He emphasized that the facility is designed to be inclusive, disable friendly, ensuring that the “common man” in Kenema City also enjoys the benefits of the development.

The Chief Administrator further explained that the project is being financed through funds generated from taxes paid by residents within the municipality, highlighting the Council’s commitment to reinvesting public resources into projects that directly improve the lives of taxpayers.

In his remarks, Councillor Mohamed Kallon assured residents that the City Council will closely monitor the construction process to ensure that the project meets the required standards and is completed according to specifications. He noted that transparency, quality, and accountability will guide the Council’s supervision of the work.

Speaking on behalf of the contractor, Mr. Sanusie Barrie of Larubasa Investment expressed confidence in his company’s ability to deliver a quality structure. He stated that Larubasa Investment is an indigenous company with a proven track record of executing standard construction projects across the district, assuring the Council and residents that the Mini City Hall project will be handled with the same level of professionalism and commitment.

The Chairman of the Works Committee, Mr. Mustapha Kallon, also expressed his delight over the commencement of the project. He described the construction of the Mini City Hall as a timely and important development that will enhance the administrative and social life of Kenema City.

The handover ceremony was met with optimism and high expectations, as residents look forward to a modern facility that will strengthen local governance, promote community engagement, and serve as a hub for regional and public activities in Kenema.
