On Saturday, members of the Help Empower Pulling Forces Organisation (HEPFO) at the Pademba Road Disabled Home held a peaceful and transparent election to usher in new leadership, bringing renewed hope to residents living with disabilities.

Isheka Kagbo, one of the candidates, expressed his satisfaction with the process. “I’m happy the election went well without any problems,” he said. Kagbo pledged her support to the new chairman, emphasizing her commitment to unity and teamwork: “If he asks me to work with him, I will. I won’t be disappointed. I’m here to support.”

To his fellow residents living with disabilities, he offered words of encouragement: “Stay strong. Don’t give up. We all have our challenges, but we must keep moving forward.”

The new Chairman Mr. Yayah Sheku Sheriff expressed pride and gratitude. “I feel proud because my colleagues trust me,” he said. Sheriff laid out his vision, which includes advocating for a workshop, a store, and a permanent meeting place for the organisation. “Most of our members are skilled, especially in landscaping, but they lack empowerment,” he noted.

He vowed to lobby government and charitable organisations for support and to empower members with relevant training. “I want to bring everyone together, including my fellow aspirants, so we can work in unity to achieve our goals,” he concluded.
