Magistrate Joseph Toby of the Kambia District Magistrate Court has been widely recognized as a peace ambassador for his impartial and fair judgments that have fostered sustainable peace among both plaintiffs and defendants in the district.

During a recent public statement, Magistrate Toby issued a strong warning to individuals engaged in the secret sale, smuggling, and consumption of harmful drugs-particularly Kush, Tramadol, Cocaine, and cannabis sativa. He cautioned that anyone caught in unlawful possession of such substances and brought before his court would face a mandatory sentence of five years imprisonment.

“If anyone is caught with unlawful possession of harmful drugs-particularly Kush, Tramadol, or cannabis sativa-and appears before me, I will sentence that individual to five years imprisonment,” said Magistrate Toby.

He further called on community stakeholders, youth groups, journalists, transport operators, civil society organizations, and other relevant partners to collaborate closely with the police by providing accurate and timely information on any suspicious drug-related activities.

Magistrate Toby emphasized that all drug-related matters must be treated seriously and reported promptly to the police for appropriate legal action.

“All drug-related matters should not be compromised. They must be reported to the police for proper legal proceedings,” he stressed.
