NJALA UNIVERSITY PEACE DEPARTMENT COMMEMORATES ‘WORLD PEACE DAY’

 The Department of Peace and Development Studies, Njala University joined the world to commemorate the International Day of Peace, event which took place on the 21st September, 2020, with the theme “Shaping Peace Together”;

Speaking at this occasion the president of the department said that the association is encouraging all and sundry to acknowledge that peace is a collective responsibility stating that irrespective of tribe, religion, political affiliation, sex, status in society, physical ability it is the onus for all of us to ensure that peace prevails in our various communities.  

He further stated that “No man is an island” and that we all need one and other to complement our actions either towards positively transforming ourselves and our societies, or towards obstructing such positive transformation.

He cited that, like a mirror, the universe is a reflection of our actions so we need to project a positive attitude towards others so that they can do the same towards us.

He appealed to all to desist from divisive actions such as tribalism, regionalism, bigotry, hate speeches, greed saying that it hinders the development of the nation, our communities and the world at large.
