The Commissioner General of the National Revenue Authority (NRA) Mrs. Jeneba J. Bangura outlined ongoing reforms at the Civic Festival organized by the Ministry of Information and Civic Education (MoICE); focusing on improving compliance and service delivery.
She highlighted tax education in schools and the digitalization of NRA systems; noting their role in building transparency and efficiency. The Commissioner General spoke on automated payment system through the Integrated Tax Administration System (ITAS) for Pay As You Earn (PAYE), Goods and Services Tax (GST) and improvements in customs clearance processes, and the use of the Non-Tax Payment Mobile App.
She also acknowledged challenges related to electricity and internet connectivity; and called for fair and consistent taxation. While urging taxpayers to pay their fair share; and encouraged businesses to charge and remit GST using Electronic Cash Register.
The session ended with a Question-and-Answer segment; during which the Commissioner General responded to public concerns accordingly.
