In a major announcement, the Commissioner General of the National Revenue Authority (NRA), Mrs. Jeneba Bangura, has revealed that the Authority surpassed its 2025 revenue target by NLe92 Million, equivalent to Le92 Billion in old Leones.

The disclosure was made during an exclusive interview on Africa Young Voices (AYV) television on Monday evening. This achievement follows a challenging start to the fiscal year, which presented significant hurdles for revenue collection.

According to Mrs. Bangura, the NRA team’s perseverance and implementation of critical reforms were instrumental in steering the institution to not only meet but exceed its annual goal. Outlining the strategy behind the success, she pointed to enhanced networking and collaboration as a key driver. This involved strengthening domestic partnerships with sector stakeholders and deepening international cooperation with regional counterparts.

Commissioner General Bangura specifically highlighted Sierra Leone’s hosting of the West Africa Tax Administration Forum (WATAF) last year as a pivotal event. The forum served as a platform for vital knowledge exchange, which in turn drove impactful reforms in national revenue generation.

Internally, she credited a revitalized culture of staff engagement and continuous dialogue with the business community for optimizing collection efficiency and compliance. “Through collective effort and strategic reforms, we have successfully turned the year’s initial challenges into a significant fiscal victory for the nation,” Mrs. Bangura stated.
