PENETRATING 6-YEARS-OLD GIRL: 10 YEARS IMPRISONMENT FOR SP CONVICT

36-years old Abdul Bangura in Freetown, Western Area District, was convicted and sentenced to ten years imprisonment for sexually penetrating a 6- year- old pupil.
The convict was standing trial in the High Court presided by Justice Kumamaba Kamanda (JA) on one count charge of sexual penetration of a child contrary to Section 19 of the Sexual Offences Act of 2012 as repealed and replaced by Section 4 of the Sexual Offence (Amendment) Act 2019 Act No. of 2019.
The State Prosecution, Y.I Sesay, had alleged that the accused on 1st September, and 3rd September, 2020, in Freetown, Western Area District, sexually penetrated the victim below the age of 18th years to wit 6 years.
When the charges were put to the accused person pleaded guilty of the offense, informed the court that the victim was her close neighbour.
In his judgment, Justice Kamanda (JA) said because the accused did not waste the court’s time, he sentenced him to ten years imprisonment.
In another matter in the same court, justice Kumba Kamanda (JA), has remanded one Alie Conteh for Sexually penetrating a child below the age of 18 wit 11- years.
Conteh was in court on one count charge of sexual penetration of a child contrary to Section 19 of the Sexual Offences Act of 2012. As repealed and replaced by section 4 of the sexual offence (Amendment) Act 2019 Act No. of 2019
The State Prosecutor, Y.I Sesay, had alleged that the accused on 28th April, 2020, in Freetown, Western Area District, sexually penetrated the victim below the age of 18th years to wit 11 years, contrary to the laws.
When the charges were put to the accused person he pleaded not guilty of the offense, however, Justice Kumanba Kamanba (JA) has adjourned the matter noted that he will informed them on the next date.
