The management of the Sierra Leone Ports and Harbours Authority presented its strategic plan in the ongoing three-day retreat organised by the Ministry of Transport and Aviation in Bo City.

The strategic plan featured the successes and challenges of the Authority in its transformational drive, making it envy in the sub region.

Presenting on behalf of the Authority, the Director of Research, Planning and Development , AbubakarrKamara Esq. submitted that the Authority has made major structural and technology-driven reforms, which have ranked the Authority as the most improved port in cargo productivity in the sub region.  This, he said, has earned the authority multiple awards both locally and internationally, instating the consecutive pass marks of the Authority in the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) compliance audit and consecutively and currently toping the Ministry of Transport and Aviation Performance tracking Index.

He also mentioned the Authority’s plans to construct a multipurpose state of the art administrative building with modern maritime gadgets, construction of additional berths and roll out the port community system in the clearance processes, thereby reducing the human interface and enhancing efficiency and productivity.
