The Sierra Leone embassy in Conakry, Guinea under the effective leadership of His Excellency Ambassador Alimamy Hassan Bangura has today 14th September, 2020 hosted yet another 343 Sierra Leonean students at its Chancery building for the Basic Education Examination Certificates (BECE). It came barely a month ago when the Embassy also successfully hosted students of the National Primary School Examinations (NPSE) and the West Africa Senior School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE) respectively.
Meanwhile the following Sierra Leonean schools, Sabu International, Harounaya English Academy, Open Gate International, Seyai International and Believers Academy who had since got the requisite examination centers from the Ministry of Education back home in Sierra Leone are taken the week long examinations. These new centres at the Embassy described by education stakeholders as conducive, calm for such purpose, serve as an examination hall for many Sierra Leonean children.
An education official in Freetown who spoke to this medium this afternoon commended Ambassador Alimamy Bangura and Staff of the Embassy for the initiative adding that such development would not had come had it not been for the pro activeness and leadership demonstrated by the Embassy team. However, invigilators from the WAEC in Freetown have been in Conakry to conduct the entire BECE examination.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Minister of Education Mrs. Emelin Gogra during a live SLBC morning coffee programme today Monday 14th September, 2020 disclosed that her Ministry was very pleased with the level of collaborations with the Sierra Leone Embassy in Conakry. The Minister went further to commend the proactive Ambassador and Staff for creating the environment for students to sit to the exams.
The Embassy has been commended by Sierra Leoneans both at home and abroad for a job well done.
