A new digital health platform, Get Your Care, has been launched in Sierra Leone to enhance access to medical care, particularly for those living in remote areas. The platform allows patients to receive diagnoses, consultations, and other medical care without leaving their homes.

Co-founder and CEO Alice Kamayou, a Sierra Leonean nurse who worked in Canada, said the initiative aims to bridge the gap between access to healthcare and affordability. “Access to healthcare is one major problem, but making healthcare affordable is another major challenge that Sierra Leoneans face,” she explained.

Get Your Care enables patients to access medical services, including consultations, diagnosis, referrals, and treatment, without the pressures of the current health system. The platform will handle everything from consultations to scheduling appointments with reliable medical practitioners, eliminating the stress of waiting in long queues or finding unavailable doctors.

Chief Operating Officer Abubakarr Deen Turay said the goal is to ensure accurate diagnoses and the right treatments for patients. “Sierra Leone faces serious challenges with diagnosis, as many people have been misdiagnosed and given the wrong treatments,” he noted.

Get Your Care has established partnerships with medical practitioners and facilities, including those abroad, to provide accurate diagnoses and treatments. The platform is affordable and user-friendly, even for those who cannot read or write.

The service is currently available in Freetown, with plans to expand to the provinces through partnerships with hospitals.
