Freetown, Sierra Leone, Wednesday, 19 November 2025 – His Excellency, President Dr. Julius Maada Bio’s statesmanship on global peace and security has earned unprecedented visibility across international media platforms, following Sierra Leone’s leadership of the United Nations Security Council in November.

Two major diplomatic actions led by President Bio drew extensive global attention: the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 2803 on Gaza, and Sierra Leone’s proposal for an ECOWAS-UN-AU Joint Compact for Peace and Resilience in the Sahel. According to global media monitoring data, coverage of the President’s leadership generated an estimated 245 million people in total reach, with over 219 million ad impressions, 78 million long-form reads, 34 million deep engagements, and more than 3.4 million direct forwards.

Major international outlets, including AP News, Bloomberg Terminal channels, and MENAFN, alongside hundreds of U.S. network affiliates, carried the stories across major American cities. African and global governance platforms also amplified the President’s message.

President Bio’s chairmanship of the session that adopted Resolution 2803 was widely reported as a principled call for the protection of civilians, unhindered humanitarian access, and a renewed diplomatic horizon for lasting peace in Gaza. His proposal for an ECOWAS-UN-AU Joint Compact was highlighted as a groundbreaking African-led mechanism to address terrorism, governance instability, and food insecurity in the Sahel.

The President has returned safely to Freetown, marking the end of a successful mission that positioned Sierra Leone as a respected voice in international diplomacy.
