The Sierra Leone Airports Authority (SLAA) Management has Clears the air in a public notice dated 11th September 2020 on fake video making the rounds on social media that the Main Entrance Gate leading to the Freetown International Airport has been shut down to traveling passengers, staff, and the general public.
Management considers this information as misleading, fake, baseless and unfounded. Prior to the resumption of flight operations, SLAA Management in collaboration with SLCAA, NACOVERC, IOM and other key Airport stakeholders developed FNA COVID 19 Business Restart Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). However, crowd control measures, social distancing, adherence to hand washing, the use of face masks were core to the FNA new normal flight operations.
The SLAA Public Relations Department has been consistently engaging the media on Airport operational measures during this new normal.
At this juncture, Management wishes to allay the fears of the staff, passengers and the general public that the information is incorrect and is completely at variance with the reality on ground. Management wishes to authoritatively assure all and sundry that the Airport is not closed. The FNA is fully functional and its doors are opened to all airport users, who meet the COVID 19 Public Health and Security Protocols.
Management is therefore cautioning all those that are involved in the act of disseminating false and misleading information about the closure of the Main Gate leading to the FNA to desist henceforth, or else legal action will be taken against such person or group of persons engaged in this act.
