In a press release, Umaru Napoleon Koroma the Secretary General of the Sierra Leone People’s Party expressed dismay on several attacks on their party members whiles serving the government of Sierra Leone
According the secretary general, in recent times, there have been attacks on government officials and property especially those from the ruling SLPP. He pointed out that the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Honourable Tamba Lamina came under attack whilst on his way to attend the funeral of a deceased Kono brother, stating that his official vehicle was pelted with stones by some unknown and unidentified persons close to Makeni.
He furthered that over the weekend, Honourable Musa Bendugu of the SLPP representing Constituency 056 was attacked at his residence in Waterloo by hoodlums who inflicted serious injuries on him saying that he is deeply concerned about the spate of coordinated attacks on officials of the party.
Mr. Napoleon Koroma called on the police to thoroughly investigate these attacks and prosecute anyone found culpable, appealed to the SLP to beef up security of government officials, whilst calling on those who feel threatened to report to the Secretariat for immediate action.
In the interim, he said the party calls on all supporters to remain calm and allow the law to take its course as he called on all citizens to go about their normal business.
